Read on if you want to know how I stopped being a smoker in just 5 hours...
I loved smoking. I was good at it – a dedicated fan, that could easily have listed it under ‘hobbies’ on my CV.
I had particular favourites - first fag of the morning with a coffee. First Friday night smoke on the patio of the pub after a hard week. Mid-morning break with smoke buddies at work where we’d manage to cover the whole meeting’s agenda in five draws and still have time to grab a cuppa.
It felt like a club that was there to carry secret confessions, hold up my stress, replace missed trains and cover boredom on a night out. There’s never nothing happening in the smoking section.
So why want to give up? I didn’t really. But as thirty approaches the nicotine and coffee for breakfast starts to tell its story. My smoker’s skin had become less Sandy in Grease and more Dot from Eastenders. Then there’s the obvious body clock silently but continually ticking away. Plus the cost has become a little eye watering, and who couldn't do with one less thing to spend money on these days..
It wasn’t as easy as just not smoking for me though. I had routines, smoker-friends, and a number of high street newsagents expecting me to keep to my end of the bargain, and willpower-wise I am a “ok, just one more then” sort of person.
I can only describe Allen Carr’s method as sneaky but effective! I was recommended the videos by a friend who had seemed to give up without a backward glance and, frankly that’s what I was after following my half-hearted attempts!

I wasn’t sure what to expect as I settled down to start the programme, they say you you don’t need will power, and there aren’t any withdrawal symptoms – which I was a little sceptical about – but without giving any of their secrets away - the ease at which they make proper sense, connect with you personally and effectively turn you into a non-smoker in five hours is beyond incredible.
My conditioning to believe I needed the ‘crutch’ of smoking to deal with stress or social life or just to relax, has been replaced with my freedom to choose just not to be a smoker.
Sounds like hocus pocus I know, but all I can say is don’t knock it till you’ve tried it. You are encouraged to smoke while watching the videos, and then they take you through a series of sections that unpick the myths around what smoking brings to the party.. and I have to say it has worked like a charm with me, and I am very happy to now count myself as one of the 50million who don’t smoke because of this amazing method...
I stopped smoking after attending the Glasgow seminar over a year ago. I still can’t believe it works. It’s the best investment I ever made!
I cannot believe it. After 30 years of wasted money, health and smelling disgusting I am free. I read the book. I understood it. I now understand my addiction and I am over it. No cravings no issues and so easy. Thank you
As soon as I extinguished that last cigarette I knew, 08/01/23 thank you Alan, 13 years of my life down the drain but I will never, EVER smoke again.
I was really skeptical at first. I’ve tried what seems like a thousand times to quit nicotine. This really opened my eyes to the reality of it all! Thank you Mr. Carr and team!
All I want to say is that I’m extremely grateful for the Allen Carr method that helped me to say goodbye to nicotine addiction - for real.
I did for the Allen Carr online course to stop smoking in November 2020 and completed the course over 3 hours at home. I've not smoked since!
Absolutely amazing. I never thought it would work without patches or nicotine gum etc but it was amazing and I strongly recommend anyone who wants to stop smoking to do this course. It works!
It's like getting out of prison. Freedom from slavery to nicotine.
I breather easier, sleep better, have better control on my emotions and most importantly, I don't have to lie about my addiction to family or friends.
